Morgantown, West Virginia - Biblical Scenes with Store Mannequins The religious compound is empty -- the whole joint is for sale -- and sadly the Bible Garden has been cleared out. This attraction is no more. [Al Hoff, 04/21/2008]
Morgantown, West Virginia - Biblical Scenes with Store Mannequins A series of displays are arrayed on the property of the Good Counsel Friary, a facility for religious retreats. The Last Supper is depicted with department store mannequins along a folk art "Bible Walk," along with other somewhat recognizable scenes. Reported to us over the years in various states of repair. Morgantown, West Virginia - Jesus, Duct Tape, Eroded Eyeballs I live in Morgantown, and behind some sort of monastery type building is a wooded path of various scenes from the Bible. If you stop and read each passage, which are painted on huge wooden Bible pages (including some interesting misspellings), the walking tour usually takes about a half an hour. The mannequins are under some heavy erosion and Jesus is duct taped often and even tube socked! Sometimes he is bald and lots of the disciples have been de-fingered by vandals so they are flipping you the "devil" sign! It is free and you can even stop by the Last Supper and have a picnic if you like. Completely worth a visit. [Adriane V. Schramm, 05/19/1998]
