William F. Cody is buried at the top of a mountain so that other states couldn't easily grab him. It seems to have worked.

Directions:
Less than 30 minutes from downtown Denver on Lookout Mountain. Take I-70 west to exit 256 (marked Buffalo Bill Grave), then follow the signs. Or take 6th Avenue West to Golden and turn left onto the Lariat Trail (19th Street). Follow the scenic winding road to the top of the mountain.
Hours:
Museum - May-Oct daily 9 am - 5 pm, Nov-Apr Tu-Su 9 am - 4 pm. Grave - daily, closes at dusk.

The switchback bicycle nightmare... Buffalo Bill's Grave and Museum

Drove up the numerous switchbacks, dodging dozens of suicidal bicyclists who, besides deer, are the biggest hazard. Watch. For. Bicyclists! On a clear day the view is tremendous. [Skyler1967, 07/08/2010]

At the top of Lookout Mountain is the site for the Buffalo Bill Museum and his gravesite. The road leading up the mountain is part of the Colorado "Lariat Loop" scenic roadway. [Dom Chang, 04/01/2007]

[RA: When William F. Cody died in CO in 1917, Nebraska and Wyoming immediately put in dibs for his body. Colorado said "no way" and quickly buried him here, atop Lookout Mountain. Then they covered the grave with concrete -- reinforced with steel bars -- just to be sure. Fun drive up, on a narrow switchback road with steep drop-offs. We did it in a bruiser of an RV that stalled at just the wrong moments...]
