Washington, DC - Fully Empowered

Any statue named "Fully Empowered" deserves a visit. This is a bronze and terra cotta abstract of a nude woman, standing, with both arms raised over her head. In her hands she holds a small rock. Is that supposed to represent her empowerment? If so, it seems less than full to us. Adams National Bank used to be Women's National Bank, which explains why the sculpture is here. When it was erected in 1985 it stood outside, on the sidewalk. Vandalism has forced it to be moved into the lobby. [RoadsideAmerica.com Team, 05/04/2007]
