Bailey, Colorado - Coney Island Hot Dog My wife and I stopped by Coney Island [hot dog-shaped building] on our way to see the aspens. We got in line at 11:48 and got our 2 hot dogs and onions rings at 12:38 - yes, I said 12:38 - 50 minutes for 2 hot dogs and one order of onion rings. The grill area was swarming with flies while 3 young women tried to take orders and serve food. We saw 2 adults wandering around looking lost while the line grew longer. If they own the place I would suggest they sell it immediately to someone with food service experience. At one point they stopped taking orders and of course people left. Our food was cold, onion ring order was small (5) and greasy. We're not talking sophisticated food here - we're talking hot dogs and fries - how difficult can this be. Save yourself the trip up the canyon if you're going for the food - it isn't worth it. [Jim, 10/01/2008][RA: Gripes like this, however legit, remind us why we try to avoid food service reviews on RoadsideAmerica.com. When crowded, it may be best to take a photo of the hot dog-shaped building and move on...]
Bailey, Colorado - Coney Island Hot Dog Stand I finally made it, along with the family to the Coney Island Hot Dog stand. The food was very good and it provided a great escape from 100 degree temperatures in Denver, CO. [rehpot73, 09/07/2008]
Bailey, Colorado - Coney Island Hot Dog - Now Open The giant hot dog that once graced West Colfax in Denver and Highway 285 at Aspen Park near Conifer, is now at its new home at Bailey, has reopened! It opened its doors on July 4th, and that day sold hot dogs by the thousand. It is now on a new deck overlooking the river, its interior refurbished and restored with counter and corner booths, its bun having a new coat of stucco, and nearby tables for folks to eat outside.
There are little signs on the highway which will help point you to it, on the south bank of the river across a bridge with a couple other buildings not far west of Bailey. They sell hot dogs, ice cream, soft drinks and all else you've come to expect from this place. [Richard J. Gardner, 07/25/2007]
Bailey, Colorado - Hot Dog-shaped Coney Island Coney Island Hot Dog in Bailey, Colorado plans on opening its doors June 15, 2007. After waiting so long, the hot dog is finally getting to the point where it will open up. [Justin, 06/13/2007]
Bailey, Colorado - Coney Island Hot Dog Made it a point to check this out and see how the move went. The "dog" was sitting open, pertty gutted, with some building materials around. Looks like someone ran out of money, or "want to" or both! Anyway, ended up at Qdoba in Aspen Park but really wanted that dog. Hope someone gets it going again. [Steve, 07/24/2006]
