Metal Art Town
Poor Boys Metal Art, located on East Broadway in Tatum, has beautiful metal work on display. The entire town seems to be dotted with this talented craftsmanship. Hats off to the Iwo Jima statue. Well worth a salute.

Out in the middle of some of the flattest land you'll ever see is Tatum, NM. It didn't seem remarkable in any way, but quickly you'll notice practically every store, every mail box, every building in town has a piece of beautiful, elaborate metal art decorating it.
I noticed a metal work business in town. It may be the only game in town, but the town sure supports the business. Perhaps my favorite piece was a depiction of the flag raising at Iwo Jima on the east side of town.

Most of the art appears to be at a place named "Poor Boy's Metal Art." But "United We Stand"? That flag-raising sculpture is some kind of Iwo Jima-9/11 Patriotic Hybrid. The metal palm trees, while attractive, are decorative, not historic -- none on Iwo's Mt. Suribachi, or around Ground Zero.
