Big Chief Lewis A giant Indian Chief statue stands between the Massapequa Post Office and the Big Chief Lewis building off Sunrise Highway and Killians Road. According to the plaque, he was built by Rodman Shutt of Strasburg, PA and erected on May 21, 1968. Big Chief Lewis has no eyes! [James, 06/13/2007][RA: Big Chief is flanked by a rearing horse, a buffalo, and a totem pole. Touching the pole while making a wish reportedly increases the odds that it will come true. The Chief stands behind a barbed wire-topped fence, which contradicts his friendly gesture but has helped to preserve him over the years.]
