In Congressional Cemetery, one can view the tombstone of Air Force Sergeant Leonard Matlovich, a hero of the Vietnam war and the first openly gay person to be featured on the cover of Time Magazine. His tombstone bears two pink triangles and this inscription: "They gave me a medal for killing two men, and a discharge for loving one."
