The Florida Tech garden stream waterwheel has now been removed after some eight years operation. I don't have time to upgrade the parts, etc. For others, the hard part is keeping the bearings from wearing out, but most of the treated wood wheel lasted quite well.

[Prof. Frank Leslie, 07/04/2010]Florida Institute of Technology has a wind turbine mounted on top of a seven-story building. The center of the blades is 103 ft. above the ground. The turbine is ten feet in diameter and rated at 1000 watts power. This is a research system that doesn't power the Grid, but produces data.
You may also see a two ft diameter stream-powered waterwheel-electric system in the Botanical Gardens. Park near the flag pole at the Administration Building.
