Before there was 9/11 there was 911. The first 911 call in history was made in Haleyville in February 16, 1968, on an old, red, rotary dial phone. Historical marker.

They've since torn down the original City Hall building and replaced it with a CVS. However, there's still a sign right outside of the CVS that commemorates the occasion!
