Visitor Tips and News About Barber Shop in a Caboose
The barber pole still works. There is a very neat bus in the back with a mural on it from the London Olympics -- and, of course, the train caboose.[cydav, 04/22/2015]
I went in and waited my turn in the modest waiting room until the canned audio called the next customer into the caboose with a hearty, "All Aboard." I was greeted by the happy, talkative owner who, once he had me in his early 20th century barber chair, proceeded to give my neck and beard an excellently executed shape and trim.
The inside of the place is trip down memory lane of train, model railroading, and barbershop memorabilia. It's not Super Cuts and there's no cappuccino machine, but the conversation and the service were top notch. Perfect for "a little off the top" as you motor onward through Indiana in search of more Roadside gems. When we visited the owner also had his English double-decker bus parked on the property, which was still decorated from its trip to the U.S. Olympic swim trials prior to the Summer Games in London. After some additional pics, and with our Olympic spirit wetted and my neck cleaned, we sped on to the next destination.[Paul Petruccelli, 02/04/2014]
McCordsville Barber Shop. The person I spoke to outside of the building said the barber shop is actually in the caboose.[Brian S. Wilkinson, 10/01/2007]
