This was the coolest experience. We went out far enough that we couldn't see anyone else. It is vast. Definitely worth the detour, especially if you are into land speed records.

We stopped at the Bonneville Salt Flats just after a snow/rainstorm.
[Hannah Hudson, 03/14/2015]Had a lot of fun. Do drive carefully, because there are pockets of wet mud that will send you swerving! Also, your car will need a good wash afterwards. We found a self-service coin operated car wash in West Wendover at the intersection of Butte and Pueblo.
