Visitor Tips and News About Rockpile Museum
While on a road trip with 3 restless toddlers, looking for something to entertain them for a short time, we came upon the Rockpile Museum, an answer to prayer. There is a caboose for them to climb all over, interactive things for the kids to do inside the museum, while we adults enjoyed the many historical artifacts, and even nice shade trees and a grassy area for a picnic. Very well done, well kept and friendly folks! And it's free![Thankful Nana, 08/28/2009]
The sign struck us as funny, and it's free, but we don't have much else on this small county museum. It's near a big, natural pile of rocks.
If anyone has an opportunity to visit, let us know what you find![RoadsideAmerica.com Team, 11/07/2007]
Tipster Jeff Dunne found some details at the Campbell county web site, sounds like typical county museum stuff. It features collections of rifles, saddles, Native American artifacts, fossils, quilts, and larger items, such as wagons and carriages. There's a dress-up area for kids, and a video of excavation and blasting at a coal mine, and how coald is transported.
