West Lafayette, Indiana - World's Largest Boilermaker Statue "The Boilermaker" is an 18-foot, 5,400-pound bronze statue on Purdue University campus. The design, started by NC sculptor Jon Hair in 2003, is based on 19th century locomotive boilermakers.
The statue was commissioned by an anonymous donor to be the "World's Largest Boilermaker," appropriately in place in front of the stadium that is Home of the Boilermakers -- Ross-Ade Stadium. [Nick Williams, 03/19/2008]
