Haines Shoe House

This was a great, quick stop. Contrary to previous posts, you can take photos inside. The tour guide could stand to be a bit more educated on the materials, what is original, etc. Everyone was very friendly. We had ice cream and spent about an hour there overall.

Shoe House

Take the time to make a stop and take the tour! Lovingly restored and decorated, the owner says she and her husband still occasionally stay here. It inspires the imagination to think that a savvy businessman conceived of the house and was able to realize his creative vision.

You can have an ice cream and get delightful souvenirs in the gift shop. Pictures aren't allowed inside, but if they were, you wouldn't be as tempted to stop...which is worth the drive!

Not only is the house like a shoe -- the mailbox and dog house also are done the same way. This was an easy place to find. You wont see it from the main road but once you are off the main road it's right out in the open.
