Chicoutimi, Quebec - Little White House - Flood Survivor In July 1996, the Saguenay River received an incredible amount of rain. As a result, the river overflowed, bursted its banks and caused several landslides, 7 casualties and took over many buildings. For no apparent result, one tiny white house managed to survive through the daily pressure of millions of gallons of water and debris, the equivalent of the amount of water running over the Niagara Falls.
The house now operates as a museum dedicated to the Saguenay disaster. [Gen, 04/21/2008]
[RA: The house owners had wisely strengthened the foundation, which was attached to bedrock that the flood waters flowed around.]Nearby Offbeat Places
