Visitor Tips and News About Little Graceland
Vega is still giving tours, and he is a very nice man. Every January there is an Elvis festival with Elvis impersonators (I am sad that I will miss it).[Celia, 11/28/2012]
The annual festival celebrates The King's birth in 1935. Simon Vega served in the Army with Elvis -- there's a photo of the two of them on the sign out front -- and transformed part of his home into the Little Graceland Museum.
I have just returned from the home of Simon Vega. He has turned his home into a memorial to Elvis Presley. He calls it, appropriately, Little Graceland. Elvis was an army buddy of Vega. Mr. Vega relates his personal stories of Elvis as he shares two rooms of memorabilia. Mr. Vega has recreated the gates to Graceland for his driveway, an assurance to visitors that they have come to the right place. He has a box for donations and he sells tee-shirts for those wanting a memento for themselves. He's a nice guy.[Barbara Williams, 07/09/2000]
