Fox, Alaska - The Pope's Carpet

The Howling Dog Saloon in Fox Alaska has a must see for anyone -- well, anyone over 21. Back in the early to mid 1980s, the Pope visited Fairbanks and literally had the Red carpet treatment. That same carpet that the Pope walked on some 25 years ago [Pope John Paul II in 1984], now carpets the stage at the Howling Dog. The Dog is not open year-round, but only from sometime in April through Halloween. [Jon Larsen, 05/17/2008]
