Cave-In-Rock is the star attraction of Cave-in-Rock State Park in Cave-in-Rock, Illinois. A big honor for a small cave.
It is the world famous Cave on the Ohio River that the pirates/gangs, such as the Harpes brothers, lived in to raid passersby and escape the law.
The river pirate history is in scenes from Walt Disney's Davy Crockett and the River Pirates (1955), and the MGM classic How the West Was Won (1962). Both filmed at the cave as well as Battery Rock. In 1997, the History Channel show, "In Search of History" also filmed at the site for an episode entitled "River Pirates."[Courtney, 06/27/2008]
