- On the Ohio River in Hardin County. From the north, drive south on I-57 exiting at Marion on Hwy 13 east. Go through Marion and Harrisburg to the intersection of Illinois 1 and 13. Turn south 22 miles on Hwy 1 to Cave-in-Rock State Park.

The river pirate history is in scenes from Walt Disney's Davy Crockett and the River Pirates (1955), and the MGM classic How the West Was Won (1962). Both filmed at the cave as well as Battery Rock.
