Route 66 Midpoint Cafe

Was so glad to hear the Route 66 Midpoint Cafe and gift shop is open! Still there, still love it!

Route 66 Midpoint

I was there Nov. 21, 2016. and the cafe was closed. A sign in the window said it was for sale. Sad.

[David C, 11/24/2016]

The Midpoint Cafe and Gift Shop are indeed for sale, but we would expect that this must-stop on Route 66 won't stay vacant for long.

Had breakfast here after we took our pics in front of the Route 66 halfway point sign and laying in the middle of the road! Great little place to eat. Friendly owners. Nice gift shop. Will for sure visit this place again.

Bent Door.

The Bent Door: Route 66 Midpoint

The Bent Door -- a Phillips 66 gas station and diner built in 1946 and 1947 -- is at the midway of historic Route 66. The old Midpoint sign of Rt 66 still stands out front. The building was bought in 2006 by us (Roy and Ramona Kiewert) and is being restored to be a diner again. The last original sign, Coke machine, and gas pumps remain out front. We also recently purchased a 1920s Phillips 66 gas station from Vega, Texas, and it now sits just west of The Bent Door, as we are restoring it as well.

If you go at night, park across the street and use your high beams to light the sign for pictures.
