To clarify directions: Make sure you enter Blue Ridge DRIVE, not ROAD. Best might be to go to Berry Hill Road and Blue Ridge Drive; that's where it is. There are many No Trespassing signs, and the gas station folks were unfriendly. But looks cool and worth the detour.

Giant Nutcracker Head A paint company in Orange Virginia purchased a warehouse from a paving company a few years back and converted the tar silo into a giant nutcracker head. It's an odd thing to see from the road but get up closer to it to admire its real majesty. I hear they light it up for the Christmas holidays.
