Cookie Jar House

The Cookie Jar House was rented for many years by my father's cousin Helen. When she became too ill to walk up 3 sets of stairs, she grudgingly had to leave. She loved that house so much. But its true - her only complaint was of so many "tourists" who thought it was a museum, and were constantly knocking on her door to look in.

Cookie Jar House

I was saddened to not be able to see the whole Cookie Jar House. Of all the houses on the street, this is the only one with a large amount of trees blocking it, and makes the house hard to see and appreciate.

It is obviously well used and looks like it is kept up well. I guess the owners were tired of people riding by taking pictures.

Probably not as bad in the winter and early spring, while the leaves are gone.

Cookie Jar House

I love this place. I've been riding by it since I was a kid. The house really was meant to look like a cookie jar!

It was built in 1947 as the first of many. But, alas, apparently nobody but the builder thought it was cool enough to add any others. Just imagine a whole town of cookie jars!

[Jay R., 10/15/2008]

The house is three stories tall, with a spiral staircase in the center.
