Boothbay Harbor, Maine - Old Salt Fisherman

I grew up in Boothbay, and thought you might like to know "the secret of the fisherman." The locals know that his left thumb is positioned in such a way that, when you see his bold profile from the street side, the thumb looks like -- well, something else that Maine seamen are noted for. This past summer we visited Boothbay Harbor Maine and found a Giant Old Salt at the entrance to Brown's Wharf. He stands about 15 feet high (guesstimate). [Ken & Barb, 03/11/2000]
