Shelburne, New Hampshire - Stone Fish There is a "stone fish" located in Shelburne, NH along Rt. 2. Apparently it was built by a wealthy landowner in the 1900s, along with a "stone alligator" and a "stone turtle." He created the fish by putting smaller stones alongside a long fish shaped boulder so that they look like scales. The alligator and turtle were destroyed in 1927. Stones were taken for fill after a devastating flood.
During the snow-free periods, the stone fish is quite visible. [Reuben Rajala, 03/12/2009]
