Hagewood, Louisiana - Los Adaes State Historic Site - Huey Long Rant It's the ruins of an old Spanish Fort. Very near Natchitoches, LA and it's French Fort of St. Jean Baptiste. The international border used to run between these two forts and apparently there was a lot of trading between them. There isn't much there. The Fort was wooden so it's decayed into nothingness, but you can still see the remnants of the road that connected the Fort to Mexico City. The best part of the trip was the State Park's employee. He went on a rant about Huey P. Long rewriting the history of the old Spanish road and regaled us with tales of trying to mow the place. He seemed lonely and I think we might have to go and visit him again this year just to see what the latest rant is.
