World's Largest It's It

This was a neat picture to take, but you can only purchase ice cream by the case here. If you go into the office they will give you a cool brochure to order ice cream in bulk. [Aly, 04/02/2010]
It's It. World’s Largest It’s It

The World’s Largest It’s It is located on a non-descript street in an industrial area of Burlingame, California mounted on the factory roof alongside busy U.S. Highway 101.

What’s an It’s It? Only the original San Francisco treat, invented in 1928 by the owner of Playland at the Beach, George Whitney. An It’s It is made of vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two oatmeal raisin cookies and covered in a generous portion of rich chocolate. Whitney wanted to invent a special treat for his Playland customers that was unavailable anywhere else and he got what he was looking for. When Playland was closed in 1970, the It’s It ceased to be produced, much to the dislike of San Franciscans. So in 1974, the It’s It was reborn, and today remains a favorite ice cream treat among those in the know! [03/19/2009]
