Jolly Green Giant
There is a new chamber of commerce and Green Giant museum under construction. Park entrance closed due to that, but we parked at Dairy Queen. We got some local history from a woman in the current museum/gift shop, as well as our Jolly Green souvenirs! There are picnic tables...but if raining the fairgrounds/campground right next door have nice picnic shelters. There's now a Sprout statue, and a photo cutout board. A three-fer!

Fun stop. Has a small lot with parking. There is a platform to stand so people can take your picture under the giant.

We passed through on a Saturday and the museum/gift shop was closed. On the way out we saw a sign announcing that there's a large building coming soon in front of the giant, next to Dairy Queen. Mention of the "Giant" Visitors Center almost appears to be an afterthought. My suggestion is that you visit before the quaint feel of this roadside attraction is gone forever.

I found the Jolly Green Giant statue quite by accident this summer, towering over the local Dollar General and Dairy Queen, on a road trip from the House on the Rock to the Wall Drug Dinosaur. He looks pretty good considering his age and the Minnesota winters (According to the posted information nearby, Santa wraps him in a warm red scarf every Christmas). He is even lit at night, although that might give the little ones nightmares. The lady in the "world's largest" Green Giant museum (Is there a another one?) was very sweet and friendly.
