Visitor Tips and News About Hattadare Indian Nation
This was an incredible and surreal experience. The odd concrete statues and handmade signs were enough to make this worth the trip, but we were also treated to a full tour of the place by Lowry's son, that I won't even try to describe here -- there just isn't room. At any rate, as of July 2012 there is definitely some great stuff to see, and there is a clear desire to keep the place going. Of the many roadside attractions I've visited, this one ranks near the top and might even be the top.[Billy Sugarfix, 07/25/2012]
This intriguing site is dedicated to Native Americans in general and descendants of Indians once settled along the Hatteras Island chain just off the NC coast, in particular. In 2008, we found the site quite nicely tended. Apparently one of Letha Lowery's daughters-in-law has been helpful, although Letha herself wishes her kids would do more to keep the site presentable and in good repair.[Roland Atkinson, 12/01/2008]
