Shoe Fence

The shoe fence has grown since I drove by it three years ago.

A thriving shoe fence should grow a few "feet" every year, har-de-har.

The shoe fence is operational!

[julia barbee, 08/14/2013]

The shoe fence has accumulated castoff footwear for many years, probably because there are no trees in the desert to make a Shoe Tree. Wonder if there's such a thing as a Shoe Tumbleweed?

Shoe Fence

A soulful exhibit of footwear just east of the railroad tracks near Rice, California, on Hwy 63. The fence surrounds nothing in particular, but is covered in various shoes and accoutrements.

I've been passing by this fence in the Mojave National Preserve for many years now, and every time its collection seems to have grown. I think this fence may have taken the place of the shoe tree near Vidal Junction that burned down some years ago.
