Poor President Garfield. First he was assassinated, then someone came along and chopped off his statue's head. The head was eventually found, put back on Garfield's neck, and anchored with chop-proof steel.

I found President Garfield on a cold winter day next to Koritansky Hall. His head appears to be a a shade or two lighter than the rest of his body.

Garfield's statue was beheaded in May, the head was tracked down in July, and it was reattached to Garfield's body in November 2009. The head has been embedded with a GPS tracker chip to discourage any further decapitations. The college store sells "Get a head at Hiram College" t-shirts.
