Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox are on Hwy 36, west of Susanville, CA. Small town with the friendliest people we had met. There was a woman at the visitors center that told us all about the town and the logging industry the created the town. They get over 8 ft of snow in the winter. Paul and Babe had just received a new coat of paint a few days before we got there. [June, 11/03/2007]
Babe the Blue Ox and Paul Bunyan Red River Lumber Company invented Paul Bunyan -- they also built the town of Westwood, in Lassen County California where the Chamber of Commerce had a giant wooden statue of Babe the Blue Ox and Paul Bunyan installed a few years ago.
