World's Highest and Longest Pedestrian Bridge

Apparently there is a pedestrian bridge in the Czech Republic that now claims this title.

[Shelly Rabuse, 01/26/2023]

The Czechs only claim to have the world's longest suspension pedestrian bridge. It's 2,365 feet long. This non-suspension bridge in America is 6,758 feet long.

Walkway Over The Hudson

A new visitors' building opened recently on the west (Highland) side of the walkway, and the overall length of the rail trail path has been extended. There are now real bathrooms and comfortable places to sit, eat, and read. If you go on a windy day, listen to the bridge "singing" as the wind blows through the metal structure. The views are fabulous, but the Walkway can be quite busy on weekends when the weather is nice. It is part of the larger rail trail, and the space is shared by walkers, bicyclists, joggers, and pets.

Walkway over the Hudson

A 100 year old train trestle, the one that served as the logo for Lionel trains all these years, was shut down in the mid-70's after a fire. Saturday, 10/3/09, it opened up as the highest/longest aerial walkway over water in the world...

The view is fantastic, especially this time of year with the fall foliage coming in. In the summer, always a cool breeze up there even on a hot and sticky day.
