Visitor Tips and News About Americana Hollywood Museum
This place was locked up tight, despite local promotions stating it was open seven days a week. A peek in the window did not look promising. It looks very closed.[Jacob Krejci, 01/09/2015]
Our information is that the museum is only open from May through September (Although on our last summertime visit the museum was closed, too). We strongly suggest calling before you visit.
A huge collection of collections, including original costumes, personal items and collectibles of several famous performers. Outside the museum you can pose with the Blues Brothers, a pirate ship, Elvis and Marilyn Monroe statues, pretend you are in the Old West, or stand next to the Kryptonite machine.[Karie Nora, 08/30/2011]
A vast collection of Hollywood merchandise inside and some fun statues and props outside (the Blues Brothers statue had blackbirds nesting in John Belushi's armpit). My partner and I spent a very pleasant hour or so browsing the collection. Maybe it was the time of year, but we were the only visitors there (I got the impression they opened the doors especially for us!) which added an extra level of intimacy to the experience.
Possibly more impressive than the exhibition itself though is their very well stocked shop of vintage movie merchandise. For a nerdy toy collector like me it was heaven! I came out with a 1979 Captain Kirk action figure, some old Star Wars toys and a considerably lighter wallet...[Robert Larner, 05/07/2010]
