Chicago, Illinois - Superdawg Drive-In

Superdawg Drive-In, Inc. is the only drive-in restaurant in Chicago, internationally known for delicious food and iconic roadside architecture. My grandparents, Maurie and Flaurie Berman, built Superdawg in 1948 at 6363 N. Milwaukee Ave., on the Northwest side of Chicago, just a few miles from the origin of Route 66.

Today, we are still thrilling customers with the same friendly, family service at our original location. Our unique building design and two 12 foot paper mache/fiberglass hot dog character statues (Maurie and Flaurie) have been standing on our roof since 1948. [Laura Berman, 05/11/2009]

The Superdawg and his lady friend, named Maurie and Flaurie. They have the same features on both sides of the figures! They look good, and the food is good, too! [Phil Pasquini, 04/10/2009]

Hot Dog characters. Chicago, Illinois - Superdawg Drive-in

Perhaps Chicago's most famous drive-in restaurant, Superdawg features car service, a small enclosed dining area, and two giant weenies on its roof. Food comes individually served in retro-style cardboard boxes. [Matt B, 08/28/2008]

Chicago, Illinois - Superdawg Drive-In

From the bottom of their all-beef hearts, Maurie and Flaurie Superdawg welcome everyone to their unspoiled perfect old-school drive-in, built in the early '50s. Little has changed throughout the years. Carhops bring delicious food to your car, and hang it on your window, just like you remember from when you were a kid. Everything comes "escorted" with Superfries as standard, and your Superdawg comes in his own glorious red Superdawg lounger box! The food is delicious, the carhop girls are friendly and proud to be Chicagoan, the vintage cars that show up on balmy summer nights are not to be believed! [Holly, 05/25/2006]

[RA: This is one of those attractions that's best seen at night, with the neon rooftop weenies aglow....]

Chicago, Illinois - Superdawg Hot Dog Drive-in

There is a restaurant called Superdawg with two Giant hot dogs (him & her) standing on top of the roof. They have car hops that deliver your food to the car. The tray hangs on your window. Kinda cool! [John Christiansen, 03/10/2002]
