Ronald Reagan's 50 Millionth Gold-Plated Hotpoint Iron
When General Electric's Hotpoint factory produced its 50 millionth iron, the company gold-plated it and presented it to Ronald Reagan during a ceremony. At the time, Reagan wasn't yet President or even California governor, but just the host of the tv series GE Theatre. The iron is now proudly displayed at the center of the Hotpoint Exhibit in Ontario's Museum of History and Art, which stands a few hundred feet north of that now-closed factory.
