Bob's Java Jive - Giant Coffee Pot Not a coffee shop in the sense that you can stop in during the day and get coffee. Would probably be cool at night though. [Liz & Adam, 07/21/2011]
Java Jive - Chimps Java and Jive "The Jive," as it was affectionately known, used to be a little something to all people. In the '80s, when the chimps Java and Jive were still around, the crowd varied between preppy students from nearby private universities to bikers, all having a great time playing pool or the great jukebox.
When "Sexy Stevie on the sticks" played drums and "Bobby Floyd" played keyboard, the audience would call out theme songs from TV and movies, and the guys could NEVER be stumped. Maybe they could only play a few bars before Stevie would belch into the mic and head off for a beer, but they could ALWAYS play a few bars. Amazing place. [tk, 02/25/2009]
It is , unfortunately' closed on Sundays, which is when I went there. A note on the door of this coffee pot says that "Bob's Java Jive has been voted Tacoma's Best Dive". [Mary Dolan, 09/23/2000]
