Coffinwood

Stopped by Coffinwood and saw Brian and Dusty, who had begun putting up their Christmas decorations.

Coffinwood

I found out about Coffinwood and the owners (Bryan and Dusty) in the book Weird Las Vegas and Nevada. Ironically, they live right off the main road to Death Valley! Their website is "Coffin It Up," so we shot them an email. Dusty called on my cell, and we were lucky enough to be able to set up an appointment for that afternoon!

Bryan and Dusty are the nicest couple in the world, and they are quite unique. Their property, Coffinwood, has a memorial cemetery in the front yard, as well as a pet cemetery. They are also the creators of the World's Only Known Coffin-Shaped Gazebo! We found out during our tour that Bryan and Dusty also have a Church (The Church of the Coffin), and they perform weddings. You can get married in the Coffin Gazebo, or in the Coffinwood Cemetery, or in the Coffinwood Cavern. My husband and I are actually thinking about having our vow renewal there. The coffin pillars on their porch and all of the gargoyles are fantastic!

This is a private residence, and although you can see quite a bit from the street, their property is fenced. It's really worth the effort to make arrangements with them, so that you can see everything. They do ask for a donation, but we were more than happy to donate, because there is so much to see.

Bryan and Dusty own six hearses. Their business, Coffin It Up, creates custom coffins, among other coffin and corpse-related products. Bryan is an artist and cabinetmaker. They've been turning up on TV shows and in books since at least 2003.
