So sad. They had a flat cutout signage of a photograph of some new repairman (or possible owner?) but no sign of the old repairman when we drove by.

The latest round of hurricanes have done in the Maytag Repairman. He has been removed from the roof and lays abandoned in back of the building. We were told that there are no plans to repair or replace him. Since there is a "new" Repairman on TV, too bad they can't find a replacement for the top of the building.

On Racetrack Road, there stands an approximately 13' tall statue of a Maytag Repairman. The store owners relayed to me that they had a previous one which was destroyed in Hurricane Opal in 1995. Not quite as spectacular as the Muffler Man, but a something worth seeing in this otherwise drab area of Florida.
