- On the campus of the University of Wyoming. I-80 exit 313. Drive north on 3rd St./US 287 for one mile. Turn right onto E. Grand Ave. Drive about a mile, then turn left into S. 15th St. Drive through two quick stoplights. At the third stoplight, turn left onto E. Willett Drive. You'll see an open field to the left, and the road will bend to the left. At that point, on the right, you'll see the Arts & Sciences Building. The bench is in front of it, on the left side of the building's small entrance plaza.

Two killers serve life sentences for the murder of UW student Matthew Shepard; the crime attracted worldwide attention for its anti-gay motive. The plaque on the bench reads: "Matthew Wayne Shepard Dec. 1, 1976 - Oct. 12, 1998. Beloved son, brother, and friend. He continues to make a difference. Peace be with him and all who sit here."
