A well-executed replica of the Statue of Liberty, probably carved from a dead tree in the same spot in the early 2000s. Was still standing in 2019, but may have fallen since then.

The Hand Carved Statue of Liberty recently fell down. It was most likely because of insect damage to the base coupled with strong winds. The owner told the local news that she hoped to restore the statue, but didn't know yet if that was possible.

Commissioned by a retired judge and her attorney husband, the Statue of Liberty was carved by chainsaw artist Dennis Roghair, who carved most of the Minnesota State Fair chainsaw tree carvings and has won many national and international awards.
The location is in an area of beautiful old Victorian homes right in the middle of St. Paul. I watched this being carved about 2005 or so -- took about 2 weeks. I've seen school buses of kids visit, as well as police cars, many camera-toting international tourists, even several fire trucks loaded with firemen.
