Al Capone's Grave Site

My whole family is buried in this cemetery, so I've been going to it my whole life. I've seen people lay on the ground on top of Al Capone's grave. There are always cigars, beer, etc. left by people. The last time I was there, someone left a blunt!

Fun photo op! People frequently place quarters on the grave of Chicago Mafia king Alphonso "Al" Capone. He was famous for tossing a quarter in his hand.

The large monument is a Capone family marker, but not Al's. Al's is a smaller, unassuming flush-with-the-ground marker nearby. I am a local funeral director and have been there numerous times.

Al Capone's Grave

Mt. Carmel is a great place to wander around. There is a lot of history and urban legends to explore. There are many family monuments and mausoleums that are truly amazing works of art.

There is also the urban legend of The Bride, who is buried here.
