Junior Banks.

Junior Banks' Fortress of Faith

The castle itself is amazing and quite an accomplishment for one man. As I was leaving Junior Banks himself showed up and gave me a full tour. Junior is, shockingly, not that interested in talking about all the work he has put into the castle. Junior believes that God has "taken over" the castle, and his tour focuses on the divine images that appear in the patterns of the concrete and plaster. He showed me Moses, The White Horseman, and many others. He even believes that demons are trying to sneak into the fortress, as demonic faces have appeared in the floor and walls. He told me that Roadside America says he has a room full of demons!

This place is amazing. You will think you've found Carcosa. It is creepy and wild. We were the only people there, but this place gives you the feeling that as soon as you turn the corner you're going to stumble upon teens drawing pentagrams and drinking 40's. I mean that in a good way. I loved it.

Take some time to fully explore this place, but take some bug spray and wear jeans and boots if possible. Lots of thorny vines and spiders.

Junior and the Fortress.

Junior Banks' Fortress of Faith

Visited the castle, and Junior was there working. He was overjoyed to have visitors and gave us a lengthy tour of the castle. It really is an amazing place and Junior himself is such a wonderful man. One of the best things we've seen in our travels so far!

Fortress of Faith.

Junior Banks' Fortress of Faith

This is a castle near Greenback, just off Lee Shirley Rd. Junior Banks has been building it for 18 years as a tribute to the ALMIGHTY. Very interesting place.... a CASTLE complete with turrets and cannons.

There was a sign at the road directing us in and a sign on the property that says "Please no visitors after 8 pm" It is, of course, free to view. Junior lives nearby.

Floyd "Junior" Banks started building his huge castle in 1992 out of random bricks, stone and cement -- but he couldn't tell anyone why he was doing it. Ten years later, God told him. There are 30+ themed rooms, including a throne room, dungeon, even a chamber devoted exclusively to evil and the devil.
