Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - William Penn Statue In center city, Philadelphia, when viewed from the Ben Franklin Parkway, William Penn (statue created by Alexander M. Calder atop the City Hall building) appears to be holding his penis to pee. Otherwise, from a more appropriate point of view, he's actually holding a scroll in his hand.
Also, if you stand under Alexander Calder's mobile in the Art Museum, as you look out, you see a fountain that was created by Calder's father. If you look directly beyond the fountain, you see the statue of William Penn that Calder's grandfather created. Three generations of Calder in a row....interesting. [Jane Alizzi, 01/06/2011]
