Lakeview, Oregon: Old Perpetual: Man-Made Geyser

Accidentally created by well-diggers in 1923, the geyser supposedly blasts every 90 seconds. Heat-seeking mini-clams live in the hot springs.

Old Perpetual Geyser

Visited on August 9, 2022 at 1:15 (local time). Waited 30 minutes. Not one eruption. My guess is that it is drought-related.

[Manuel Martinez, 08/12/2022]

The geyser was seen to be erupting regularly less than two months before your visit, so its lack of activity is temporary, we hope.

Old Perpetual Geyser

A previous tip reported that the geyser was no longer active, and speculated that it might be under repair. I visited in June 2022, and watched it erupt regularly.

Old Perpetual: Man-Made Geyser

Place is run down -- the geyser did nothing. Looked like maybe they were trying to make some repairs, but until then a total waste of time.

The directions took us to a rundown hot spring resort and it was hard to get a photo of the geyser past the piles of junk. It is better seen from Geyser View Road on the other side of the geyser from the resort.
