Horse and chicken sculptures. Junk Metal Animals

Outside the Plum Creek Winery in the western Colorado town of Palisade (next to Grand Junction) are two sculptures. The first is a horse made of junk metal, the second is a rooster. Both are huge and fantastic and seem to be related to the "Mike the Headless Chicken" statue in Fruita.

Sculptures are by Palisade artist Lyle Nichols -- the fowl is named the "Chardonnay Chicken." Nichols also created "Rusty's Dream," elsewhere in town.
