Winslow, New Jersey - Blue Hole I have been to the Blue Hole many times over the past 50 years or so. The best part is getting there. If you park at the shotgun range and walk it's about a mile -- just follow the blue dots...you'll see them. I was told by my father that the hole was dug to make a road (the one leading to the hole) from the old bridge that you can see in the stream by the Blue Hole. I can't say if this is true or not..some wealthy guy used to own the woods and did this.
We used to party there when I was in High School. Nice sand, and no one bothers you. [Paul, 01/30/2010]
Winslow, New Jersey - Blue Hole - Vague Recollections Somewhere between Williamstown, NJ and NJ shore points, while traveling
with my parents to Atlantic City, someone suggested that we stop and see the Blue Hole.
I think it was below a town called Cecil. After driving a short way through the woods,
we hiked a little way to a clearing where there was a quiet pool of water about fifteen
or twenty feet wide and almost a perfect circle. The water was clear and you could see
pretty far down, maybe ten or twelve feet. The story was that there was no bottom to
this pool, and it sure looked that way to me. This happened over sixty years ago but I
still remember it very well. It was like looking down into a giant birds nest filled with with water. I know it's there because I saw it with my own eyes and my memory of it it is still very clear.

Winslow, New Jersey - The Blue Hole My friends and I first caught wind of this site from a copy
of Weird NJ. It's reputed to be one of the Jersey Devil's Homes, created by
a meteor strike way back when. It's supposed to be bottomless, crystal clear,
and always ice cold. Getting back to see it is kind of difficult. You have
to park your car out on the main road (if you bring it with you there's a
good chance it will sink into the sand) and hike into Winslow Wildlife
preserve for about a mile. You eventually come to an open area with a creek
off to the right. Cross the creek (we went visiting during a drought so the
creek was rather low then) and follow the narrow trail back a few feet.
There in front of you is the Blue Hole.
Hopefully you'll have more luck with it then we did...seems its not all that
bottomless and there was no Jersey Devil in sight. Still its a must see for
any Jersey Devil enthusiast. [Maggie Stewart, 11/23/2000]
