Giant Tastykake Apple Pie Who doesn't love a giant cellophane-encased apple pie, especially a baked one from the famous Philly Tastykake Baking Company? My husband I happened upon it when we were taking the long way to a suburb just on the outskirts of the city. I yelped hysterically when my gaze flickered over the giant baked treat.
My grandmother had practically grown up toiling in their factory, wrapping each pie with wax paper by hand, or packing threesome Creamies into boxes. Why was it in the middle of urban/industrial land? Ah, there's a Tastykate outlet store it's advertising, right behind. Naturally I needed to purchase a few cakes after drooling over giant pie. Funny though, none of my choices included pie.
if you follow the same street a bit further, the old Tastykake factory pops up.
