[Rebekah Hayes, 12/08/2014]Hand Carved Statues, Old Hawaiian Village
My husband and I were honeymooning on Maui this past week. While we were in Lahaina, we decided to catch up on the Roadside America attractions in the area. During our adventure, we discovered the Pirate hand-carved statue in the Old Hawaiian Village surrounded by caution tape. At first glance it looked like he was being moved to update the landscaping. Upon closer examination, we noticed that his right hand was broken clean in half. Several other areas on the statue were broken, cracked, and chipped, too. We hope the statue will be repaired and returned to its original location, but it was not in good shape when we saw it.
