Mermaids of Weeki Wachee

Weeki Wachee Springs -- where mermaids are real! The price is extremely reasonable to enjoy swimming, mermaid shows, riverboat cruise, and much more! Arrive one hour before it opens to guarantee entrance (the park reaches capacity quickly). Don't let the one hour wait time scare you away from this gem. The park's capacity is set so everyone can enjoy a day in the spring without overcrowding!

I also would encourage booking a kayaking adventure (separate admission) through Weeki Wachee (2-3 weeks in advance available on their website). Crystal clear water takes you peacefully downstream. Don't worry about paddling against the current, because the park will drive you back and get your kayak out of the water for you! Watch for manatees, but don't touch.

Check out the inappropriate statue out front. Be sure to visit the water park in the natural spring as well.

The entrance fountain statue is a single, tall column supporting a female swimmer in fins balancing another female overhead. Neither are mermaids, and they appear to have left their clothes at home.

Mermaid Show

The price to enter Weeki Wachee is super reasonable, and you get to see a lot. It has a nice garden where you can walk around with free-roaming peacocks. There were several different shows, but of course we were there to see the mermaids. They didn't disappoint. The show we saw was The Little Mermaid -- not the Disney version, but still really neat. There was also a really nice swimming area (and Tiki Bar!) where you could just lay out and swim. I would recommend it to everyone, especially if you have a mermaid-lover in the family.

Weeki Wachee - City of Mermaids

A must-see for the historical mermaid show and the unique beauty of a Florida spring-fed river. Buccaneer Bay, a small waterpark next door, is included in your ticket price. You can do both in a day at a relaxed pace.
