Marion, Ohio: Grave of a Warren Harding Mistress

President Harding is said to have had multiple mistresses and countless one-night stands. But Caroline F. Phillips is the only one who reportedly blackmailed him into keeping her silence. Her obelisk is just up the road from the tomb of Harding, and only a few feet from the simple grave marker of Charles E. Sawyer, Harding's homeopath Surgeon General, whose quack treatments and incompetence helped kill the President.

Grave of a Warren Harding Mistress

The grave is almost directly across from the "Shop n Go" in the outer ring of the cemetery, not far from the big Harding tomb. Turn right at the office and go past the bronze statue of the woman with the basket, keeping along the outer road. You can actually see it from the street, if you know what you're looking for. Be sure to check out the neat pyramid stone nearby.
