Ye Old Curiosity Shoppe

I remember going to the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop as a kid. Whenever we would drive by the building my dad would say, "Say 'Hi' to Sylvester." It was such fun going back as an adult, and Sylvester hasn't changed a bit.

Sylvester is the Curiosity Shoppe's longest-reigning resident mummy.

Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe

I enjoyed visiting the 98-year Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe, located on the waterfront near the Seattle Aquarium & the ferries across Puget Sound. Admission is free since it's really a huge tourist trinket store, not a museum. They have a lot for sale, and while most of the stuff is ticky-tacky & plastic, there are a few nice things (I bought a very pretty pewter pin). You have to hunt to find such things like The Lord's Prayer written on a grain of rice, or a painting on the flat end of a straight pen (they're in a glass cabinet at the far end of the store). TOCS is gearing up for their centennial in two years. Stop by & enjoy!
